I loved,loved this drink ever since I was at my mom's mother in law's house in Northern California and she served this refreshing drink..It was the "bomb"! Mama Cata,I will always love the way you cooked for me and I love your Chicha Morada...R.I.P Querida Mama Cata...you were one of a kind :)

Ingredients For chicha morada drink

  • 1 1/2 lb
    purple corn
  • 2 lb
    peelings from cooking apples
  • 1 lg
    pineapple(peelings from pineapple)
  • 4
    key limes
  • 1 c
    sugar ( or,to taste)
  • 4
    cloves (whole)

How To Make chicha morada drink

  • 1
    Bring to a boil the well washed apple and pineapple peelings, red/purple corn and cloves with 3 quarts water. Simmer for half an hour. Strain.

    Repeat simmering process with same ingredients and 3 quarts clean water.

    Strain and mix both liquids.

    Add sugar and lime juice. Serve chilled.

    Note: Add sugar and key lime to beverage only when ready to use. Before adding sugar and key it can be kept in the refrigerator for a few days
