Today is Juneteenth 2020. In honor of the occasion, here's my take on Carla Hall's watermelon and strawberry slushy.

Ingredients For carla's juneteenth slushie

  • 8 c
    cubed seedless watermelon, frozen
  • 2 c
    quartered strawberries, frozen
  • 1 1/2 c
    sparkling water
  • juice of 1
    lime and zest
  • 2-4 Tbsp
    simple syrup
  • 4 sprig
    fresh mint, optional

How To Make carla's juneteenth slushie

  • 1
    Pulse fruit until it breaks up, then blend til slushy consistency.
  • 2
    Add water, lime juice and zest. Taste to see how much simple syrup to add. Add more water if too thick. Pulse a few times to mix completely.

    Serve in tall glasses with mint sprig for garnish, if desired.
