This freezes real well so I have it when people stop by in the cold months. I have also been known to give as presents in a basket with a couple of fancy mugs and a small bottle of spiced rum. I just keep the mixture in a small jelly jar in the fridge or freezer until the last minute when I put it in the basket.

Ingredients For hot buttered rum mixture

1 lbreal butter (no substitutes)

1 lbdark brown sugar

1/2 tspnutmeg (freshly grated preferred)

1 Tbspground cinnamon

1 tspground cloves
How To Make hot buttered rum mixture

1Cream all ingredients together and put into a ziplock freezer bag. Freeze until you want to use it. Keeps a log time.

2To serve: place 1 heaping Tablespoon of mixture into a mug. Add 1 1/2 ounces of dark or spiced rum. Fill mug with boiling water. Stir and serve hot. Great served with sweetened whip cream on top.
