We used to have lots of dinner and holiday parties. Everyone has a recipe they prefer, usually from their family history, for Wassail. This one is one Barb shared with me.

yield 36 cups, those 4 oz size ones

Ingredients For holiday wassail, barb

  • 3 lg
    oranges
  • 72
    whole cloves
  • 1 gal
    apple juice
  • 1/2 c
    lemon juice
  • 10
    whole cinnamon sticks
  • 2 c
    vodka
  • 1/4 c
    brandy

How To Make holiday wassail, barb

  • 1
    Stud oranges with cloves. Bake in shallow pan 30 min at 350 degrees. Heat apple juice just until the edges start to bubble (not a full rolling boil). Add lemon juice, cinnamon sticks and baked oranges. Cover and simmer 30 min. Remove from heat, add vodka and brandy. Mix well. Use oranges and cinnamon sticks to garnish when you put this into a punch bowl.
