While watching the movie inspired by Nicholas Sparks' book, "The Last Song" (2010, Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, Greg Kinnear, Kelly Preston), I was so enticed by the incredible sunsets over the Savannah beach horizon. They featured such beautiful layers of soft pink, gold and peach colors. In creating this drink, I had hoped to capture some of those beautiful sunsets by starting with a base of peach schnapps, vodka and mango nectar. Then I topped it off with a drizzle of maraschino cherry juice to disperse in a random pattern, to resemble the different layers of a summer sunset.

Ingredients For savannah beach sunset

  • 2 oz
    peach schnapps
  • 1 1/2 oz
    vodka
  • 3 to 4 oz
    mango nectar
  • 1 tsp
    maraschino cherry juice
  • 1 slice
    fresh peach (optional garnish)
  • 1/2 cup
    ice cubes

How To Make savannah beach sunset

  • 1
Fill a short glass with ice. (I used a short-stemmed chalice, but a 10-oz Old-Fashioned glass or a large wine goblet would work well, too.)
  • 2
Pour peach schnapps and vodka over the ice, and stir. Pour mango nectar on top and let it descend into the alcohol layer.
  • 3
Drizzle the cherry juice across the top, and let it slowly descend into the drink, creating a streaking pattern.
  • 4
Garnish with a peach slice and serve immediately.
