I saw this drink recipe on Pinterest recently and thought it might be a good drink to make for our annual 4th of July get-together. The red, white and blue color theme makes this cocktail quite appropriate for such an event.

Ingredients For red, white and blue mojito

  • 2 oz
    light rum
  • 1 oz
    fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz
    simple syrup
  • 5 oz
    club soda
  • 1/4 cup
    fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cup
    fresh raspberries
  • 3 sprig
    fresh mint - divided
  • 1
    watermelon star (made with a small star-shaped cookie cutter) - optional, for garnish
  • ice cubes

How To Make red, white and blue mojito

    In a Collins glass (or an 8 to 10-oz capacity drinking glass), muddle together the raspberries and 2 sprigs of mint. Add a handful of ice cubes to the glass.

    Pour the rum, lime juice and simple syrup over the ice cubes. Slowly pour Club Soda on top. Float the blueberries on top.

    Use a small star-shaped cookie cutter to cut a star from a thinly sliced watermelon wedge. Garnish glass with the watermelon star and remaining sprig of fresh mint. Add a straw, and serve.
