Part of my cookbook To serve any hot punch in a glass bowl, first heat the bowl by pouring warm, NOT HOT, water into it. Let stand until hot punch is ready. Pour water out and pour hot punch in slowly.

Ingredients For hot punches and cups

  • 1 1/2 qt
    apple cider
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    orange zest
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 12
    whole cloves
  • cinnamon sticks

How To Make hot punches and cups

  • 1
    Combine all ingredients, except cinnamon sticks, in agate or enamel kettle over medium heat. Bring to a boil and turn off heat. Let mixture stand 2-3 hours. Strain mixture and reheat. Add cinnamon sticks to each mug.
