Ingredients For hot mulled cider

1lemon peel

1 tspwhole allspice

36whole cloves

13-inch stick cinnamon

1/4 tspsalt

1 cbrown sugar, packed

2 qtfresh or bottled apple cider

How To Make hot mulled cider

1Tie lemon peel, allspice, cloves and cinnamon in a small piece of cheesecloth. Combine salt, sugar and cider in saucepan over low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Add spice bag and bring mixture to a boil, then lower heat and simmer 10 minutes. Remove spice bag. Serve hot in mugs, topped with light sprinkle of nutmeg. Makes 2 quarts.
