In my notes I have that the total amount of rum used for the full mixture is 24 oz. rum. So if you make for many, then I would have a big pot of boiling water! 12 cups of water will probably be more than needed. Suspect though that most will just enjoy a cup and refrigerate the rest until another night for another cup.

Ingredients For hot buttered rum

  • THE MIXTURE TO REFRIGERATE--KEEPS SEVERAL DAYS
  • 1 stick
    butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 c
    vanilla ice cream
  • WHEN READY TO DRINK
  • 2 Tbsp
    of the butter mixture
  • 2 oz
    rum or a jigger
  • boiling water

How To Make hot buttered rum

  • 1
    To drink: Place 2 tablespoons of mixture in a cup & add 2 oz. jigger or Rum. Fill with boiling Water.
