It wouldn't be Christmas without my grandfather's eggnog. This is not for the faint of heart. Its smooth and creamy deliciousness hides a powerful dose of whiskey! You may run into Santa after a few of these!! Cheers! And remember, don't drink and drive.

Creamy and downright delicious!  Naturally, adjust alcohol amounts to suit...but we loved this wonderfully classic recipe as-is.

Ingredients For great grandad's eggnog

  • 6
    eggs, separated
  • 3/4 c
    sugar, divided
  • 1 pt
    cream
  • 1 pt
    milk
  • 1 pt
    whiskey (Four Roses is best)
  • 1 oz
    Jamaican rum
  • freshly grated nutmeg

How To Make great grandad's eggnog

  • 1
    Add the egg whites to a small mixing bowl and whip until stiff peaks form. Add 1/4 cup sugar to the whites and gently fold to combine.

    In a separate bowl, add the remaining 1/2 cup sugar to the egg yolks and beat until light.

    Mix the whites with the yolk mixture in a punch bowl. Stir in the cream and milk. Add the whiskey and rum. Stir thoroughly.

    Serve cold with grated nutmeg.
