This delightful Caribbean concoction was created by "Miss Emily" Cooper at the Blue Bee Bar in Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas. Interestingly, Miss Emily never tasted a drop of alcohol in her life, and was allergic to Pineapple! So she never got the pleasure of having one. She created this world-famous cocktail for the Goombay Summer Festival in the Bahamas, and thus the name.

Ingredients For goombay smash

  • 1 oz
    dark rum
  • 1 oz
    malibu coconut rum
  • 1/2 oz
    apricot brandy
  • 2 oz
    pineapple juice
  • 2 oz
    orange juice
  • 1 tsp
    lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 dash
    angostura bitters

How To Make goombay smash

  • 1
    Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, add ice and shake until frosty, about 20 seconds.

    Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Garnish, if you want, with an orange slice and a cherry.
