drink essentials: sicilian/russian slushy
This humble drink began as a Sicilian Slushy; however, I did not like how the traditional gin in this recipe blended with the Campari. So, I switched to vodka, and made a few other modifications… Hence the name: Sicilian/Russian Slushy. The perfect cocktail for a Mid-Summer’s eve by the pond. It will make 4 good-sized cocktails, but it is easy to divide down, if you only want one or two. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients For drink essentials: sicilian/russian slushy

6 Tbspcampari (that is 1/4 cup, plus 2 tablespoons)

1/4 corange juice, freshly squeezed

1/4 cgood vodka

1/4 cfiltered water

3 Tbsplemon juice, freshly squeezed

2 Tbspsugar, confectioners variety

6 cice

lime slices for garnish

2For this recipe, you will need a good blender.

3All vodkas are not created equal, I used a plain vodka (non-flavored), and used Grey Goose, because that is what I had on hand. If you are going to use a flavored vodka, I would recommend orange, or lemon flavor.

4Gather your ingredients (mise en place).

5Add all of the ingredients; except the lemon slices, to a blender, and blend until smooth.

6Taste, and add more sweet or tart elements, if needed.

8Pour into glasses, garnish with the lime slices, and serve. Enjoy.
