This vintage drink has died out too soon. Let's bring back this tasty, Christmas beverage with all the nostalgia it represents. This was the first year my husband and I have ever made/tried it. It won't be the last. I was inspired to make this after catching a glimpse of the popular Tom and Jerry punch bowls and mugs from the 60s and before. If anyone wants to send me an early Christmas present....

Ingredients For brown sugar "tom and jerry" christmas cocktail

  • TOM AND JERRY BATTER
  • 9
    egg whites
  • 9
    egg yolks
  • 1/2 c
    dark brown sugar
  • 3/4 c
    dark brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla or almond extract
  • 1 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    allspice
  • 1/2 tsp
    ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    clove
  • 1/2 tsp
    freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 pinch
    sea salt
  • POUR INGREDIENTS
  • hot milk
  • spiced rum
  • honey brandy or regular brandy

How To Make brown sugar "tom and jerry" christmas cocktail

    Hand beat 9 egg whites until creamy and stiff. Then add 3/4 cup of dark brown sugar and continue to beat until fluffy.

    In a separate mixing bowl, beat yolks, vanilla, spices, sugar, and salt. Beat until well combined.

    Fold yolks into egg whites.

    This can be stored in the refrigerator at this point.

    When ready to serve, heat milk in the stove, but do not scald.

    In a mug, add 3 tablespoons of your Tom and Jerry batter, 1-2 tablespoons of spiced rum, 1-2 tablespoons of honey brandy, and fill the rest of the mug with hot milk.

    Give a quick stir and serve. Just omit the rum and brandy when serving to children. Some prefer bourbon to brandy, but the choice is yours. I recommend the honey brandy.
