The B-52 is a layered shooter (served in a shot glass) that first emerged in the 1970s to raving reviews because of its sweet, creamy flavor. It's usually consumed in a single gulp. If poured correctly, the liquors will separate into different layers that float atop one another. The secret to perfect layer is to be sure to S-L-O-W-L-Y pour each of the alcohols (separately) over the back of a spoon, so they trickle into the shot glass without disrupting the previous layer. Pour the Kahlua first, then the cream liqueur, then the orange liqueur.
