- BREAD PUDDING

1loaf day-old French bread (14 ounces)

3/4 cgranulated sugar

1/4 tspcinnamon

1/4 tspnutmeg

1 dashsalt

3 1/4 cmilk

3eggs, lightly beaten

2 tspvanilla
-
1/2 craisins
-
1/4 cpecans, optional
- BUTTERY BOURBON SAUCE
-
1 cgranulated sugar
-
6 Tbspbutter, melted

1/2 cbuttermilk
-
1 1/2 Tbspbourbon (or more to taste)

1/2 tspbaking soda
-
1 Tbsplight corn syrup

1 tspvanilla
How To Make shyla's bread pudding with buttery bourbon sauce

1To make the bread pudding, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Cut the bread into cubes, about ½ inch each. Place the bread cubes in a large bowl.

2Add the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and mix.

3In a separate bowl, mix the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.

4Add to the bread mixture.

5Mix well.

6Place 1/2 of the bread mixture in a casserole dish.

7Layer the raisins and pecans (if using) on top of the bread mixture.

8Top with the remaining bread mixture.

9Bake for 30 minutes or until lightly brown.

10To make the buttery bourbon sauce, combine all the ingredients in a saucepan. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat.

11Serve warm over the warm bread pudding.
