I love bread pudding and when I found this recipe, I knew it was the one! Quick and easy to make. Can be eaten plain or with vanilla or bourbon sauce spooned over it.

Ingredients For my favorite bread pudding

  • 6 slice
    day-old bread
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • 1/2 c
    raisins, optional
  • 4 lg
    eggs, beaten
  • 2 c
    milk or light cream
  • 3/4 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon, optional
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make my favorite bread pudding

    Heat oven to 350°F.

    Break bread into small pieces in an 8" square baking dish. Drizzle melted butter over the bread. If desired, sprinkle with raisins.

    In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk or cream, sugar, cinnamon (if using), and vanilla. Beat until well blended. Pour over bread and, using a spoon, lightly push down until bread is covered and soaking up the egg mixture.

    Place pan of mixture into a larger pan. Fill larger pan with up to 1" of water.

    Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the top springs back when lightly tapped. Serve warm or cold, with or without sauce.
