My Momma 's favorite Banana Puddin' recipe. An old South Louisiana recipe

Ingredients For momma's banana puddin'

1/2 csugar

2 Tbspflour
-
1/4 tspsalt

2 cmilk
-
3eggs, separated
-
1 tspvanilla
-
1 boxvanilla wafers
-
4 - 6bananas
- MERINGUE:

3egg whites
-
1/2 csugar
How To Make momma's banana puddin'

1Combine sugar, flour, and salt. Add milk and beaten egg yolks to make a custard.

2Cook in double boiler until mixture is as thick as custard. Add vanilla.

3Layer vanilla wafers and sliced bananas in baking dish. Pour half of mixture over layers. Add another layer of vanilla wafers and bananas and cover with remaining custard.

4Whip egg whites and sugar to make stiff peaks. Pile on top of custard making sure it reaches edges. Bake in hot oven until peaks are golden brown and meringue is stiff, glossiness is gone.
