cranberry christmas pudding and sauce

I am adopting this recipe,as it is similar to the one Mom liked to serve at Christmas time, with a rich sauce. She always said: do not substitute ingredients! The ingredients listed were the same, but I have changed the quantities, and eliminated the vanilla in the sauce. You can include vanilla if desired. Hers was less sweet also.

Ingredients For cranberry christmas pudding and sauce

  • 1 c
    fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 c
    molasses
  • 2 tsp
    soda dissolved in 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/3 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • SAUCE INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    heavy cream

How To Make cranberry christmas pudding and sauce

    Mix first five ingredients for pudding in order given.

    Steam in a one quart greased mold for 2 hours.
  • 3
    Mix sauce ingredients in a double boiler,and and cook for 15 minutes.

    Serve warm over pudding.
