I put the ends of bread, stale dinner rolls etc in the freezer and make this up when I get a bag full or so.

Ingredients For apple bread pudding

  • 4 c
    bread crumbs
  • 1/2 c
    raisins
  • 2 c
    apples pealed, cored and sliced - if you preffer to leave the peals on i would recommend dicing the apples small
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 c
    half and half
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2
    eggs, beaten

How To Make apple bread pudding

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a baking pan. (app. 7x11)

    Combine bread crumbs, apples, and raisins.

    On stove top blend the brown sugar, milk and butter to a gentle boil and pour this mixture over the bread mixture. Let this rest for 5-10 minutes.

    Meanwhile combine the cinnamon, vanilla and beaten eggs.

    Gently pour the bread and milk mixture into your greased pan. Drizzle the egg mix over this.

    Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or untill the center is set and the edges start pulling away from sides of pan.

    Serve warm with cream or vanilla sauce (see my recipe).
