I found this recipe in an old cookbook that I checked out at a library. It tastes wonderful. I've never tried it with store bought pie filling (4 Cups). Like all cobblers, it's good with ice cream or home-made whipped cream.

Ingredients For wash day cobbler

  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 3/4 c
    whole milk
  • 1/4 lb
    butter, melted
  • 1 pinch
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 qt
    home preserved fruit

How To Make wash day cobbler

    Mix first 6 ingredients together.

    Butter an 8"x8" glass casserole dish. Pour the batter into the dish.

    Pour on the fruit, juice and all. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for an hour.
