Ingredients For tarte au sucre - sugar pie

  • 2 lg
    (9-inch) pie crusts
  • 2 1/2 c
    brown sugar, such as demerara
  • 1 lg
    free-run egg
  • 1 c
    evaporated milk
  • 1 Tbsp
    unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp
    unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 sm
    pinch ground himalayan sea salt
  • 1 tsp
    milk, for brushing

How To Make tarte au sucre - sugar pie

    Preheat oven to 375ºF. Mix all the ingredients in a blender.

    In a greased-floured pie plate, pour in the sugar mixture. Place another pie crust on top, crimp and brush with milk. Make a few incisions and transfer to a 375ºF preheated oven. Bake the pie for 50-55 minutes or until the crust is nice and brown

    Remove from the heat and let it cool off for 15 minutes before serving.
