This is such an easy and inexpensive dish that will "stick to your ribs"! This is the main recipe but it can be altered easily using other ingredients that you have on hand. Even the pickiest of eaters love it. Enjoy! (This is my first recipe ever posted. Please let me know if anything needs to be clarified.)

Ingredients For susie's shepherd's pie

2 lbground beef (or chicken or turkey)

1 mdonion, diced

1 pkgfrozen mixed vegetables (16 oz)

2 cancondensed mushroom soup (or 1 can each mushroom soup and cream of celery soup)

1 cprepared brown gravy (homemade, jarred, or mixed from pkg)
-
1/2 cwater
-
1 Tbspbeef base ( i use l.b. jamison's)

6 cprepared mashed potatoes (instant or homemade)

1 Tbspdried parsely
-
1 cfrench fried onions (or crushed potato chips)
How To Make susie's shepherd's pie

1Brown ground beef and diced onion in skillet,drain.

2Return meat and onions to skillet and stir in brown gravy, soups, mixed vegetables, beef base, and water. When thoroughly mixed, pour into 9 x 13 baking dish.

3Mix parsley into mashed potatoes. Using a spatula, spread mashed potatoes over meat mixture, smoothing out. Sprinkle french fried onions evenly over the top.

4Bake in a 400* oven for 45 minutes or until lightly browned.

5*****NOTE***** May substitute ground beef for 3-4 cups of cooked and chopped chicken, turkey, pork roast, or pot roast. Just use coordinating gravy and soup base.
