This is a very simple recipe and so quick and easy when you need a fast dessert in a pinch. You could use ready-made pie crusts or make your own. I use my fool-proof pie crust recipe and it works great This recipe makes a very rich and delicious pie. I think if you added a little nutmeg to this recipe, it would just set it off. I hope you'll try this easy recipe. Enjoy!

Ingredients For southern buttermilk pie

  • 1
    9" pie crust, uncooked
  • 1 c
    whole buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 4 lg
    eggs, unbeaten
  • 1/2 c
    melted butter cooled to room temperature
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract

How To Make southern buttermilk pie

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees and set uncooked pie crust aside.

    Place all ingredients in a blender, Ninja, Vitamix or other food processor. Start on low and increase to medium and blend until smooth.

    Pour into the unbaked pie crust and bake for 40 minutes. Start checking it at 30 minutes. When a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center, it's done.
