We have a pear tree so a friend gave me her recipe & I've been making it ever since.

Ingredients For peggi's deep dish pear pie

  • partially baked crust
  • FILLING:
  • 5 anjou pears (or tart apples or other pears)
  • 2 t. unbleached, white flour
  • 1/8 tsp, salt
  • 1 cup nonfat yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • TOPPING:
  • 3 t. sugar
  • 3 t. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. margarine

How To Make peggi's deep dish pear pie

    PREHEAT OVEN TO 400 °.

    PEEL PEARS & CUT INTO BITE SIZE PIECES. SET AIDE. IN LARGE BOWL, COMBINE REMAINING FILLING INGREDIENTS & FOLD INTO PEARS.

    POUR PEAR MIXTURE INTO PIE CRUST & BAKE AT 400° FOR 15 MINUTES.

    LOWER HEAT TO 350 DEGREES & CONTINUE BAKING FOR 25 MINUTES MORE.

    MIX TOGETHER TOPPING INGREDIENTS.

    REMOVE PIE FROM OVEN & SPRINKLE TOPPING OVER FILLING. RAISE HEAT TO 375° & BAKE UNTIL TOPPING IS BROWN.
