Ingredients For peach crisp with fresh peaches

  • TOPPING MIXTURE
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    old fasioned oats
  • 2/3 c
    a.p. flour
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon, scant
  • 6 Tbsp
    butter, softened
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • pinch
    ground nutmeg
  • FILLING
  • 6 c
    fresh peaches, peeled and sliced into wedges or uniform chunks
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    a.p. flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    instant tapioca - if peaches are really juicy

How To Make peach crisp with fresh peaches

    Preheat oven to 350*. Butter a 2 quart baking dish.

    Gently combine fruit wedges with flour, sugar and spices. Note: I use "Flaming Fury" peaches and they are super juicy, so I also add a tablespoon of instant tapioca granules to the mix.

    Place mixture in baking dish.

    In separate bowl, combine topping ingredients until blended and you have coarse, pea sized pieces. I just use my fingers.

    Crumble topping over the top of the fruit, sprinkle evenly but don't worry if it is a little bumpy looking.

    Note: If your baking dish is shallow and your fruit and topping is nearly reaching the rim, place a cookie sheet or foil on a lower rack to catch drips.

    Bake 40-45 minutes, until peaches are tender and topping is crusty and golden brown.
