My mom made this pie when we were young and passed the recipe down to me. My mom passed on to Glory in 1996 and whenever I make this pie, I think of her.

Ingredients For my mom's chocolate pie

3 csugar
-
4 Tbsphershey's cocoa

8 Tbspcornstarch

Dashsalt
-
1 lg. canevaporated milk (refill with water and add)

6eggs, separated and at room temperature

1 Tbsppure vanilla extract

2 cwhole milk
-
1 stickbutter
-
2pie crusts, baked

1/3 csugar
-
1/2 tspcream of tartar
How To Make my mom's chocolate pie

1Mix sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt together well. Add evaporated milk to dry ingredients and mix well.

2Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.

3Cook over medium heat until bubbly and thickened. Pour into the 2 baked pie crusts.

4Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy. Add the sugar and beat until stiff. Spread meringue over filling.

5Brown in a 450 degree oven. Cool before serving.
