My Mama got this recipe from an Amish Lady. She lived close to some of them and they became friends.She made this when I was a little girl. It was one of my Father's favorite pies. I think I will make it over the holidays.Hope you like it.

2/3 cbrown sugar

1 cmolasses

3/4 chot water

1 tspbaking soda dissolved water

1/4 chot water

9 lg9 inch single crust
How To Make my mama's shoefly pie

1Combine Flour,brown sugar, and butter; making crumbs either by hand or using a pastry blender. Set aside 1/2 cup crumbs to put on top of the finished pie. Combine molasses, hot water, egg, and baking soda dissolved in water; mix well.Stir crumbs into liquid. Pour resulting mixture into pie crust and top with left over crumbs. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.
