this is a tender, flaky crust. I'd tried many crust recipes this is the one I always fall back on. It is delicate, so I roll it up onto the rolling pin to transfer to the pie pan.

Ingredients For my flaky pie crust

2 cflour

1 tspsalt

2/3 cvegetable shortening

2 Tbspmelted butter

5 Tbspice cold water

1 Tbspvinegar
How To Make my flaky pie crust

1sift dry ingredients together.

2cut in shortening with pastry blender or fork until coarse crumbs.

3add melted butter and stir in

4blend in cold water, with vinegar mixed into it. make sure water is cold from refrigerator.

5divide dough into 2 balls.

6roll out one ball to desired size to fit pie pan. roll up on to pin to transfer to pan.

7put filling in pie crust, and repeat with second ball of dough, making slits for air to escape.

8for a "baker's" look. brush milk over top crust and sprinkle with small amount of sugar before baking. makes top crust "sweet and crispy" and looks great.
