I got this recipe from a lady I took care of many years ago. She made the best pie crust. This will make 7 crusts which you can freeze. This dough can be re-rolled without getting tough.

Ingredients For mrs. d's pie crust

  • 4 1/2 c
    flour
  • 2 c
    lard
  • dash of salt
  • 1
    egg yolk
  • cold water

How To Make mrs. d's pie crust

    Combine flour and salt. Cut lard into flour/salt mixture until pea size pieces form.

    Take one egg yolk and beat in a cup. Fill cup with cold water and mix well. Add to flour mixture. It might take 1 or 2 tablespoons more water to get it all mixed. Make into 1 large ball and divide into 7 smaller balls. Flatten each ball and wrap in plastic wrap and then put in freezer bag.

    When needed, thaw crust and roll out for pie.
