mom's flat apple pie
(4 ratings)
This is a great pie for a picnic or potluck. You can pick it up and eat it with your hands. No gooey, drippy mess, but super moist!! The picture that I posted is one of the pictures of the pie my "little" brother made. He is such a great cook as well.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
We love the idea of eating apple pie with your hands! Once baked, this tastes like the fried apple pies you can get at that famous fast food restaurant where billions have been served. Rolling the dough on a cookie sheet is genius. The crust becomes flaky and delicious. The warm apple filling is perfectly sweet with notes of cinnamon. We loved the sweet icing drizzle on top. Eat this warm or at room temp. Either way is absolutely delicious.

How To Make mom's flat apple pie
Test Kitchen Tips
We used a 15x10-inch cookie sheet pan for baking. Also, you could do anywhere between 8-10 apples depending on their size. We only used 8 while testing.
-
1Mix ingredients for crust (which are the first 4 ingredients on the list).
-
2Roll out half of the dough to fit a cookie sheet.
-
3Sprinkle with Corn Flakes.
-
4Place sliced apples on top of Corn Flakes.
-
5Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on top of apples. Dot with butter.
-
6Add top crust to cover.
-
7Beat egg white and sugar and brush on top of pie. Cut a few slits in the top of the pie crust.
-
8Bake at 425 degrees F for 25-30 mintues.
-
9Mix powered sugar, vanilla and enough milk to make a thin frosting. Drizzle over hot pie.
