My mom made this when I was a little girl and told me how to make it.

When craving an apple dessert, this fall recipe can be made in a snap. To us, the final product is similar to a cobbler. There's a biscuit-like topping that gets slightly crunchy on the edges. Inside is a warm apple spice filling. No matter your baking skills, you can make this simple dessert.

Ingredients For momma's homemade apple pie

  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 can
    apple pie filling (21 oz) or diced fresh apples, cooked

How To Make momma's homemade apple pie

  • Slices of butter in a baking dish.

    Heat oven to 350 F. Get a baking glass dish and slice about 1/2 stick of butter in the bottom of the dish.
  • Flour, sugar, and buttermilk mixed together.

    Mix flour, sugar, and buttermilk.
  • Flour mixture poured into baking dish.

    Pour into the dish with butter.
  • Fruit spread over the batter.

    Spoon fruit over the batter. You can add cinnamon to the fruit if you like.
