1/2 cunsalted butter

4 Tbspcornstarch

1/4 cwater

1/2 cgranulated sugar

1/2 cbrown sugar, packed

1/8 tspground nutmeg

1 tspcinnamon

3 lgmcintosh apples, peeled, cored and sliced

2 lggala apples, peeled, cored and sliced

28-inch deep dish pie crusts
How To Make mema rose's apple pie

1Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Continue to cook the butter until it is browned, a dark golden color and smells nutty, about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often.

2Stir in cornstarch to form a paste. Stir in the water.

3Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon, and bring to a low boil.

4Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

5Add the apples to the sugar mixture in the saucepan and cook on low heat for 5 minutes.

6Place the bottom crust in your pan. Par-bake for 4 minutes. Pour apple filling into crust. Cover with second pie crust. Crimp edges, and cut slits in top to vent. (I sprinkle a little sugar on top.)

7Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until apples are soft.
