This recipe comes from my mother-in-law in Minnesota. I had never heard of it until then.

Ingredients For margarita pie

  • 1 c
    finely crushed pretzels
  • 3 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    butter (melted)
  • 1 qt
    vanilla ice cream
  • 2 Tbsp
    lime juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    tequila
  • 1 Tbsp
    triple sec
  • 1 tsp
    grated lime rind
  • slices of fresh lime

How To Make margarita pie

    In a small bowl combine pretzel crumbs, sugar and butter. Press over bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie pan and refrigerate. Allow ice cream to soften slightly and fold in lime juice, rind, tequila and triple sec. Spoon into chilled crust and place in freezer until firm. 3-4 hours. Garnish with slices of fresh lime.
