My grandmother-in-law gave this recipe to me back in 1978. Years that pecans are just too expensive (like THIS year - 2011) I like to make this pie. It tastes like the real deal and is perfect for those with nut allergies or to serve on April Fool's Day!

How To Make granny's mock pecan pie
-
1In a bowl combine all of the ingredients together and pour into the pie shell.
-
2Set the pie on a baking sheet (this helps conduct heat to the bottom of the pie and crisp it up. A trick I learned from Granny).
-
3Bake for 15 minutes in a preheated 400*F oven then reduce heat to 350*F and bake 30 minutes longer.
-
4Loosely cover top with foil if it is getting too dark but should be okay. Everyone's oven is a little different. Enjoy!!
