My Italian friend ANN ,serves this at her annual Easter dinners. I never heard of this Italian pie..but it was Delicious! She mailed me the recipe that she had found in a magazine. Maybe in Taste of Home Magazine. She said it was very close to the one her mother passed on to her. If you have never tried it...Please do! you will not be disappointed! 1 - 2/3 cflour crust

2 Tbspsugar

1/2 tspsalt

1/4 cbutter
-
1/4 cshortening

2eggs, slightly beaten

115oz. ricotta cheese filling filling

1 csugar

1 Tbspflour
-
1/4 tspg rated lemon peel
-
1/4 tspgrated orange peel and a dash of salt

4eggs
-
2 tspvanilla
-
1/3 csemi-sweet chocolate chips

1/8 tspground cinnamon

dash ground nutmeg
How To Make easter pie..."an italian pasttiera" recipe

1In a bowl combine flour,sugar,salt and baking powder, cut the butter & shortening until it resembles small crumbs. Add eggs, stir until moistened and mix forms a ball. Cover & refrigerate for 1 hour. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a 10 inch circle. Place in a 9 inch pie plate, fluted crust.Refrigerate.

2For filling beat the ricotta, sugar and flour in a mixing bowl. Add grated peels and salt. Beat until smooth. In a another bowl, beat eggs until thick and lemon colored, about 5 minutes, slowely fold into ricotta mixture. Gently mix in remaing ingredients. Pour into crust. Bake at 350 for 55 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center, comes out clean. Cool. Store in the refrigerator. Serves 6-8 servings.
