Ingredients For crunchy caramel apple pie

  • 1
    pastry for single crust, 9 inch pie
  • PIE FILLING
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 6-7 md
    apples, granny smith (6 cups)
  • CRUMB TOPPING
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    quick oats
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • TOPPING
  • 1/2 c
    pecans, in pieces
  • 1/3 c
    caramel topping, or more :)

How To Make crunchy caramel apple pie

    Prepare pie crust, set aside. Heat oven to 375*.Sift together sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt in a large bowl. Add apples and toss to coat. Pour into pie shell. set aside for aminute to prepare your crumb coating.

    Mix together the brown sugar,oats,1/2 cup of flour. cut in the butter till mix is crumbly. pour over apple mixture.

    Cover the edges with foil. Bake 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 25-30 minutes more, or until top is a nice golden brown. Remove from oven. sprinkle with chopped pecans and then drizzle caramel topping. Cool on wire rack. Great served warm with ice cream. OMGosh, Im hungry again. :) xoxo
