Ingredients For croustillant aux pommes (apple crisp)

  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    butter, softened
  • 5
    apples, sliced
  • sugar

How To Make croustillant aux pommes (apple crisp)

    Place apple slices in the bottom of a greased square pan. Sprinkle apple with sugar.

    In a medium bowl, mix flour, brown sugar and salt. Mix in butter with fingers or pastry blender.

    Cover apple with this mixture and bake in a 350F oven for about 30 minutes until crumbly mixture is golden in color.

    There are no spices such as nutmeg or cinnamon in this dessert. Many Quebecers prefer their apple desserts without spices. A good pinch of cinnamon can be added to the flour if you prefer spicy apple desserts.
