Found this in a magazine when I was looking for something different with ingredients I had on hand. Wanted something other than pumpkin or a similar dessert for the holidays.

Ingredients For cranberry apple pie

    double pie crust (1 top, 1 bottom) purchased, or your favorite crust recipe.
  • 4 c
    granny smith apples, cored and sliced and peeled (about 4)
  • 2 c
    fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    cornstarch
  • 1/4 c
    orange juice
  • 1/4 tsp
    lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    apple pie spice
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter

How To Make cranberry apple pie

    Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • 2
    In a large bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch, orange juice, lemon juice, cinnamon, apple pie spice and nutmeg. Add apples and cranberries; toss gently.

    Line a 9-in. pie plate with bottom pastry. Add filling; dot with butter. Roll the remaining pastry to fit top of pie. Cut vents in pastry, using a small apple cutter if desired. Place over filling; seal and flute the edges.

    Bake at 425° F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° F; bake 50 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Let pie cool on wire cooling rack completely before serving to let pie set.

    NOTE: No Apple pie spice?? Make your own by using 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and 1/8 teaspoon cardamom to make 1 tsp of apple pie spice.
