I created this eighth sweet potato pie recipe in the style of chocolate malt pie with chocolate malted balls known as chocolate malties. The filling on the bottom is delicious.

  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 6 Tbsp
    malted milk powder, divided
  • 3/4 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1
    deep dish pie crust (9-inch)
  • 2 c
    crushed chocolate malted balls, divided
  • 3
    sweet potatoes
  • 2 Tbsp
    margarine
  • 1 c
    cane sugar
  • 3
    eggs
  • 3/4 c
    half and half
  • 3/4 c
    chocolate milk

How To Make chocolate malted sweet potato pie

    In a medium bowl, combine heavy cream, cream cheese, semi-sweet chocolate chips and 3 tablespoons malt milk powder; whisk until blended and smooth.

    Spread into the bottom and sides of pie crust and sprinkle with 1 cup crushed chocolate malted balls. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate for 2 hours.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Bring a large saucepan of water to boil. Add sweet potatoes and boil until soft for 20 to 25 minutes. Drain well and discard the skin.

    Place the potatoes in a large bowl and mash with a potato masher.

    Beat margarine, cane sugar, remaining malted milk powder, eggs, half and half and chocolate milk together until combined.

    Spoon sweet potato mixture into the prepared pie crust. Bake for 30 minutes or until the pie is set. Cool completely.

    Sprinkle with remaining crushed chocolate malted balls.
