My first experience with butterscotch pie. It was delicious. My Aunt Opal's recipe.

Ingredients For butterscotch pie

  • 1
    pie crust shell
  • 1 1/2 c
    light brown sugar
  • 6 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 1/4 c
    milk/evaporated milk
  • 3
    egg yolks

How To Make butterscotch pie

  • 1
    In heavy bottom saucepan, combine brown sugar, flour and milks. (I use 12 oz of evaporated and add regular milk to make 2 1/4 cups total)

    Beat the egg yolks. Add to the above mixture and cook until it thickens over medium heat and cook for 2 minutes.

    Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Pour into 9 inch pie shell. Top with meringue or whipped topping. Chill.
