A galette is basically a free-formed one-crust pie. It can be a dessert, main dish, or appetizer. When you think of it that way, ANYTHING can be put into a galette! This is one that I came up with when I was thinking of making fried apples for dinner.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Apple cranberry galette may sound fancy but it's an easy fall dessert. The seasonings Teresa chose are perfectly balanced and enhance the natural flavors of the fruit. The beauty of a galette is that it doesn't have to be perfect. Basically, it's a free-form pie. We used a pre-made pie crust and this was super easy to prepare. A great fall dessert recipe if you aren't a pie expert but want all the flavors of a pie.

How To Make apple cranberry galette

Test Kitchen Tips
When cooking the filling on the stove, cook until the apples are done to your liking. Then add the cranberries because they cook very quickly. Baking in the oven is only for the crust to be cooked.
  • Cookie sheet sprayed with non-stick spray.
    1
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Spray a cookie sheet with nonstick spray.
  • Melting butter in a skillet.
    2
In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Sliced apples, brown sugar, and spices in a bowl.
    3
In a bowl, place apple slices. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and brown sugar.
  • Coated apples cooking in a skillet.
    4
    Toss and add to skillet.
  • Cranberries added to the skillet.
    5
Cook for 10 minutes and then stir in cranberries. Cranberries will pop when heated through.
  • Cooking down apples and cranberries.
    6
Cook until liquid cooks down and apples are tender.
  • Pie crust on a baking sheet.
    7
Unroll pie crust onto prepared pan. Spread so it makes an uneven circle.
  • Filling poured into center of crust and edges folded.
    8
Spoon prepared apples into the center of crust and fold in sides loosely and unevenly. You can sprinkle crust with granulated sugar if you'd like.
  • Galette baking in the oven.
    9
Bake in preheated for 12-15 minutes or until crust is golden brown and flaky.
