1 Tbspunflavored gelatin (1 envelope)

lime slices for garnish

1/4 cpistachio nuts, chopped

19 inch pastry shell

1 cheavy cream, whipped

1/2 csugar

4egg whites
-
few drops green food color

1 tspgrated lime peel

1/4 cwater
-
1/2 clime juice

4egg yolks

1/4 tspsalt

1/2 csugar

heavy cream, whipped, to top
How To Make americana key lime pie

1Spread with more whipped cream; edge with grated lime peel.

2Sprinkle chopped pistachio nuts in center.

3Garnish with thinly sliced lime placed in whipped cream mounds around edge of pie.

4Thoroughly mix gelatin, 1/2 cup sugar and salt in saucepan.

5Beat together egg yolks, lime juice and water; stir into gelatin mixture.

6Cook and stir over medium heat just until mixture comes to boiling.

7Remove from heat; stir in grated peel.

8Add food coloring sparingly to tint pale green.

9Chill, stirring occasionally, until the mixture mounds slightly when dropped from a spoon.

10Beat egg whites until soft peaks form; gradually add 1/2 cup sugar, beating to stiff peaks.

11Fold gelatin mixture into egg whites.

12Fold in whipped cream.

13Pile into cooled baked pastry shell.
