This is the only recipe I have from my days teaching school at Saint Helen's and the Lunch Ladies.

Ingredients For school lunch peanut butter bars

2 call purpose flour

1 tspbaking soda

1/4 tspsalt

1 creal butter
-
1 cnutty peanut butter
-
1 lgbanana, mashed, may be added to the batter with the peanut butter, optional

2 lgeggs
-
1/2 cgranulated sugar
-
1/2 cdark brown sugar, firmly packed

1 tspvanilla extract

2 cold fashioned oatmeal or corn flakes or some of both

1 1/2 cchocolate chips, mini, sprinkle and spread on hot bars then let cool, optional
How To Make school lunch peanut butter bars

1Heat oven to 350^. Grease or spray a 9x13-inch baking pan; set aside. --- Combine flour, baking soda and salt, set aside.

2Cream together in a large bowl the butter, peanut butter (and banana,if using) until smooth and blended add sugars and vanilla; beat in eggs. Add flour mixture and blend. Stir in oatmeal,stirring to blend well.

3Spread batter into prepared pan Bake for 15 to 18 minutes. ]Let cool in pan on wire rack;then cut into squares. --- If desired you can frost or sprinkle with powdered sugar;or sprinkle with the chocolate chips let melt then spread on evenly while hot.
