My Mom made these every Christmas for her cookie trays. They make nice fill-ins for the tray and since they are powdered sugar coated the whites looks nice. Taste good also. Can be made ahead and frozen until ready to use.

Ingredients For mom's walnut balls

  • 1 c
    margarine--melted---(not lite)
  • 1/4 c
    white sugar
  • 1 pinch
    baking powder
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    coarsley chopped walnuts
  • 1 c
    powdered sugar

How To Make mom's walnut balls

    Mix 1st 3 ingredients. Stir in flour & walnuts. (if to soft to handle,chill several hours)

    Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Roll heaping teaspoon of dough into 1" balls. Place on ungreased baking sheets.Bake 50-60 minutes until lightly browned.

    Cool on wire racks 30 minutes. GENTLY shake about 4 balls in a paper bag with Confectioners sugar. Cool about 30 minutes and repeat shaking process.

    Store in an air tight container, in freezer until ready to use.
