These bars are guaranteed to clog your arteries but they are sooo worth it. I found this recipe in a "Country Woman's" Magazine and the men in my neighborhood go crazy and ask for them over and over again. They are not hard to make and I hope you will give them a try. You will NOT be sorry

Ingredients For maple pecan bars
- CRUST

3 call-purpose flour

3/4 cconfectioners sugar

1 1/2 ccold butter (no margarine)
- TOPPING

1 1/2 cpacked brown sugar

1 cbutter, cubed
-
1/2 cmaple syrup
-
2 tspground cinnamon
-
1/4 tspsalt
-
4 ccoarsely chopped pecans
-
2 Tbspplus 1 tsp. heavy whipping cream

3/4 tspvanilla extract
How To Make maple pecan bars

1in a large bowl, combine flour and confectioners' sugar. Cut in the butter until crumbly. Press into a greased 15 X 10 in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

2Meanwhile, in a large heavy saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, syrup, cinnamon and salt. Bring to a boil. Cook and stir over low heat until butter is melted. Stir in the pecans, cream and vanilla. Remove from heat, spread over crust.

3Bake 20-25 minutes longer or until bubbly. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars. yields 5 doz.
