making symbols, fractions, hearts, using "alt"
(1 rating)
I was reading several comments below a recipe regarding making the "degree" symbol (°) using the 'Alt' key on your keyboard. It's a helpful thing to know when posting recipes, along with knowing how to make fractions (¼, ½) etc. I've also included links with instructions to make hundreds of symbols... everything from hearts to "cents" signs. These instructions are for Windows. For other operating systems, a quick Google search will give you the info that you need. Have fun!

How To Make making symbols, fractions, hearts, using "alt"
-
1On your keyboard, you will see an 'Alt' key located on either side of your space bar.
-
2While holding the 'Alt' key, using the numerical keyboard on the right (not the one on the top of your keyboard) type in the code of the symbol that you want to make. For instance, a degree symbol can be made by holding the 'Alt' key in while typing 0176. Want to make a 'cents' symbol? Hold 'Alt' while typing 0162.
