2eggs, beaten

3/4 cgranulated sugar

1 Tbspmelted butter

2 1/2 call purpose flour

2 1/2 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspsalt

1/4 tspground nutmeg

1 cchopped dates

1 cmilk

1 tsplemon extract

oil, for deep-frying
How To Make ma mere's date doughnuts

1Heat oil in deep-fat fryer to 375 F.

2In a bowl, combine beaten eggs, sugar and melted butter; beat well.

3In another bowl, combine flour with baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Fold in dates.

4Mix lemon extract with milk. Add dry ingredients to egg mixture alternately with milk.

5Drop batter by tablespoonfuls, 2 or 3 at a time, into hot oil and fry until crisp and brown, about 3 minutes frying time, turning once. Drain on paper towels.
