This is my Mother's Mother's recipe. My grandma passed November 2006. I have many of her recipes. She did give several to her daughter in law, my Aunt. I'm glad!

1 csifted flour

3/4 csugar

1 1/2 tspcocoa powder

2 Tbspbutter, melted

1/2 cchopped nuts (important)

1/4 tspsalt
-
1 tspbaking powder

1/2 cmilk
-
1 tspvanilla extract

1Sift dry ingredients together, add milk, butter, vanilla & nuts.

2Spread into 8 x 8 pan and pour over this batter; 1/2 c. white sugar, 1/2 brown sugar, 5 T. cocoa, 1 c. hot water, pinch of salt.

3Bake 35 or 40 minutes at 325. Let cool in pan & serve bottom side up with whipped cream or ice cream.
