I would always ask my Grandma to make me a pan of these bars for my birthday. I could always tell when she was cooking them, the house smelled wonderful when I walked in.

Ingredients For grandma's raisin bars

1/2 cshortening

1 csugar

1 cwater

1 craisins

1 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspcloves

1/4 tspnutmeg

1/4 tspsalt

2 cflour

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspbaking powder

1 tspvanilla extract
How To Make grandma's raisin bars

1In a sauce pan, gently heat shortening, sugar, water, raisins, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt for 3 minutes. Cool.

2Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and vanilla. Pour into a greased and lightly floured cookie sheet pan. Bake 350 for 20-25 minutes.
