grandma's chocolate waffles

For almost 50 years, Frank asked me to make chocolate waffles. I really didn't have a recipe for them, and I was hesitant to just add chocolate syrup or cocoa to my Everyday Waffles recipe. I'm so glad I waited even though I had a grumpy hubby from time to time. When I wrote to the Young siblings, asking for any recipes of Grandma's that they might have, my brother-in-law Sam sent the one for chocolate waffles! Now I'm in good graces around here, and I do believe they're our daughter's favorite dessert. Well, except for Bonnie's Blueberry Pie.

3We eat them warm with vanilla ice cream. Delicious! And they remind us of Grandma back in the good old days, when these were a real treat for the Young family in Maine and Washington State.
